Capitol - three views of this iconic building.

The Capitol Cinema is one of the old places for Singaporeans to go on dates. Built in the 1930s, the style of the building is an eclectic neoclassical style. After WWII, the building was purchased by Shaw Organization and renovated in 1948 and became the flagship Shaw theater with 1.686 seats. It closed on July 1988.

The building was included as part of a land package with Stamford House next door, and some adjacent land. The new project was to be re-developed and called Capitol Piazza.

After several mis-starts, it finally opened in 2018 with Kempinski as the anchor hotel.

The interior behind the Capitol facade now houses a restaurant area.
