Lunch time at Alexandra Central Mall

Lunch time at a local mall. This is taken from Alexandra Central Mall, a mall with a few shops, but where the main attraction are the restaurants.

From the car park, the view out is towards one of my favourite residential buildings - the Interlace. This massive development houses1,040 units, split over 31, 6 storey blocks are clustered around 8 individually themed courtyards. The architecture is very interesting. Designed by architect Ole Scheeren, it was completed in 2013.

The mall itself seems to be very quiet except for the buzz around its many eateries. A central atrium allows a good view of the ground floor from the second floor. Seen here are the dining areas of two restaurants. A prata shop in the far end at the top of the photograph, and a zichar style Chinese on the near end. Vertical lines show the typical perspective distortion of pointing a wide angle lens so that it not parallel to the subject. This is highly exaggerated due to the extreme wide angle of the lens chosen.

From the third floor, looking almost vertically down.

One of the restaurants at level 2 - La Saigon, selling Vietnamese cuisine. The same lens is used, but with the sensor plane parallel to the subject, there are no converging lines. The HCD 4/28 lens used is an extreme wide angle, giving a horizontal field of view of 90°, approximately a full frame 21mm. But it is rectilinear, meaning that straight lines of the subject remain straight and not curved.

As usual, all photographs were taken hand held, with my Hasselblad H3D-39 with HCD 4/28mm lens. Raw and BW conversion in Phocus. Small adjustments and resizing done in Photoshop CC.
